Privacy Policy 🔒
Last updated: 9 July 2026
Otterly Money (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides a family banking and money-education app for parents and kids (“Otterly Money”, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account information — name, email address, and password (or Google sign-in) for parents; username and password for kids.
Family & kid profile information — a kid’s name, age (set by the parent — we do not collect a date of birth), a chosen built-in avatar, savings goals, and reward preferences, entered by a parent. Kids do not upload photos or link third-party accounts.
Financial information — account balances, allowance amounts, savings/investment activity, and transaction history within the app. All amounts are virtual and educational — see “Otterly Money Is Not a Bank” in our Terms of Use.
Communications data — if a parent connects LINE notifications, we store the LINE account identifier needed to send messages, and whether notifications are enabled.
Usage data — general information about how the app is used, such as device type and app interactions, to help us improve the Service.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
• operate and maintain family and kid accounts;
• process in-app actions like allowance, chores, swaps, and savings goals;
• send optional notifications you’ve enabled (such as LINE messages to a parent);
• communicate with you about your account or the Service;
• improve, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
We do not sell personal information.
3. Children’s Privacy
Otterly Money is designed to be used by children under the supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian. A parent creates the family account and adds each kid profile; kids do not sign up on their own. We collect only the information a parent chooses to provide for their kid, and information generated by the kid’s use of the app, which the parent can view and edit at any time from the parent app. Parents may contact us at any time to review, correct, or delete their kid’s information.
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to operate the Service:
Service providers who host and run Otterly Money on our behalf (currently Supabase for our database, authentication, and file storage, and Vercel for hosting).
Sign-in and notification providers you choose to connect, such as Google (sign-in) or LINE (notifications) — only the minimum information needed is shared with them, governed by their own privacy policies.
• As required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Otterly Money, our users, or others.
We do not share your family’s financial or personal information with advertisers.
5. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls that keep each family’s data separate from others, and industry-standard authentication. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and family information for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Cookies & Similar Technologies
Otterly Money uses essential cookies/local storage to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences (like your chosen language) — these are always on because the Service can’t work without them. With your consent, we also use Google Analyticsto understand how the Service is used so we can improve it; these analytics cookies load only after you choose “Accept all” and are not set if you choose “Essential only.” You can change your mind by clearing this site’s data in your browser. We do not use advertising cookies or sell your data.
9. International Users
Otterly Money’s infrastructure may process and store information in countries other than your own. By using Otterly Money, you consent to this transfer, in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
